I would like to thank Shealagh, Kit and the committee for inviting me today. It is always a pleasure to see so many beautiful Somali’s in one place and the quality today was exceptional. Thank you to Kassandra Warwick for coming today to steward especially for me. It was a busy day but we got through it all in the end.

AC TABBY CAT OF ANY PATTERN (ECEPT GINGER OR TORTIE) WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE.

Soft and silky coat, well prepared. Long body with strong limbs and round paws. Head slightly small in comparison to his body, round in shape and with green eyes and a sweet expression. Lovely temperament.

AC SOMALI BREEDERS KITTEN
1 FRANCIS NAINASUS SPITFIRE (63a) (9.11.09) A young Somali baby, only just old enough to be here today at just 4 months of age. Wedge to head is still a little long and narrow at present. Cheeks need more breath and fullness, but he has a fractionally stronger head than his litter brother, placed second in this class today. Slightly straight profile with more of a bump than a break to his profile. Firm chin and slightly overshot bite. Expressive almond shaped eyes, large and set obliquely and well apart. Good eye make –up. Very good ears, large and very well set, nicely cupped with excellent tufts and good breadth at the base. Good strong body, very well boned and with good body weight. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail. Soft and very fine Sorrel coat with good warmth to his apricot undercoat, with length yet to develop. Good evidence of ticking across his coat, especially at the shoulders and neck but developing well. Good full heels and paws. Lovely temperament.
2 FRANCIS NAINASUS HURRICAINE (63c) (9.11.09) Sweet young Somali kitten just 4 months of age and a little overawed by the whole experience but with a sweet disposition. Wedge shaped head which is a little fine and narrow at present. Quite a long head which needs to develop more fullness to his cheeks to create the necessary curving Somali smile. Reasonable definition to his muzzle but overall too long at present. Slightly straight profile with more of a bump than a break to his profile. Reasonably firm chin with a level bite. Large eyes which looked quite round and bold at first but did improve as he relaxed. Lovely well defined eye make –up and oblique setting. Large ears with an excellent setting, very well cupped with excellent tufts and nicely broad at the base. Strong and firm body, very well boned and with super weight for his frame and age. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail. Lovely soft blue coat, currently more tipped than ticked. Some ticking evident on his shoulders and neck but still developing elsewhere. Nice warmth to his undercoat. Coat length yet to develop and texture very soft and fine. Good full heels and paws. Broken necklace. Sweet but shy lad.

Thank you to Kassandra Warwick for coming today to steward especially for me. It was a busy day but we got through it all in the end.

Female – fantastic class of female kittens
1st & BOB POINTINGS BRIZLINCOAT BLU CHANTRELL (63c) (11.9.09) Stunning Somali kitten who stole my heart! I judged this kitten a few weeks ago and loved her then, if anything I think she is even more gorgeous now. How exciting to own such a quality female and in blue too. My first impression of her is how balanced and harmonious she is, particularly given that she is still only just 6 months old. She has excellent Somali type. Lovely moderate wedge to her head with truly gentle curving contours to her cheeks and muzzle. Her smile is undoubted. I particularly love the shallow indentations which give definition to her muzzle. Lovely profile with a slight break. Firm chin and level bite. Lovely almond shaped eyes, set slightly obliquely with a lovely mischievous expression. Very well defined eye make-up. Large ears with an excellent setting wide apart on her head. Well cupped and very broad at the base. Nicely furnished. Firm and lithe body of very good body weight and substance for her age. Long tapering tail, well furnished and in balance with her body. Lovely soft blue coat colouring with lovely warmth to her undercoat. Soft and fine coat with length still to develop. Excellent ticking, especially for her dilute colouring. Very well developed over her entire body. Full blue heels and paws. A kitten with a lovely temperament who is sure to go far. Congratulations on her Best in Show wins, very well done to her breeder and owners.
2nd WATTS EMANAN CHOCOLATE SENSATION (63b) (29.7.09) Another lovely Somali kitten of very good type. Lovely moderate wedge to head with super breadth. Muzzle just a fraction fine at present, but well defined shallow indentations to her muzzle, so she just needs a little more time for the full breadth to develop. Good depth to her chin, level bite. Lovely expressive eyes, large and almond in shape, set obliquely and well apart. Beautifully set large ears, broad at base and very well cupped with super tufts. Strong, firm body, very well developed in substance and body weight for her age. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail to balance with her body. Good dark chocolate coat colouring, with lovely pale apricot undercoat. Really super soft and fine coat and with the best developed length of all the kittens today. Ticking developing nicely, most evident on her shoulders and neck at present but developing nicely. Good full chocolate heels and paws. Sweet girl who was a little shy.
3rd COONEYS TAGHER CHAMPAGNE TRUFFLE (63b) (31.8.09) A third lovely Somali kitten with her smile almost in place and with excellent strength of ticking. Unfortunately she does have a fixed deviation at the end of her tail which was confirmed by the duty vet today. Moderate wedge to her head with good breadth and nice curves starting to develop her smile. Slight break to profile. Firm chin and level bite. Large almond shaped eyes, set obliquely with a very sweet expression. Lovely large ears with a super setting once settled, when she is out of the pen she has a tendency to flare them. Well cupped and with good tufts. Firm and strong body with very good body weight and boning. Long legs and oval paws. Medium tail, well furnished and tapered. Very well developed ticking evident across her whole body for her age. Soft and very silky coat with length yet to develop, pale apricot undercoat with nice warmth. Full chocolate heels and paws. Sweet kitten who was just a little nervous today, such a shame about her tail.

NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT CLUB SHOW
20th February 2010

I would like to thank Anne, Brian and the committee for inviting me today. It was another great show with a tremendous record entry, well done to all the exhibitors for supporting the show. I had the honour of stewarding for Jette Eva Madsen which was a great pleasure.

Later in the day, I judged the Prefix pairs, what a task you gave me, 39 cats in 22 different pairs!! The quality of the cats was super, thank you for giving me such a challenge.

Prefix Pairs – only 1 ½ points separated these top three pairs and there were only 4 points between the top 6 pairs.

1st Place – Tiganlea Prefix
Represented by:- Ch Tiganlea Prince Dante (adult) & Tiganlea Dame Felicia (kitten) As I said on the day it really was cheating to put two blue cats under me as they are my favourite colour! However, taking that aside these two cats were both excellent examples of the breed. They were both of exceptional quality and substance. The male is mature and was in full coat and has a wonderful NFC expression. The young female kitten is also lovely and has one of the best quality dilute coats I have seen. In particular she had wonderful boning and substance for her age. Well done, they complimented each other beautifully.

2nd Place – Noynarock Prefix
Represented by:- Noynarock Prince Tyrone (kitten) & Noynarock Greta (kitten) These two were a truly striking pair, a silver tabby & white and a black smoke and white. Both have excellent type and super boning and substance. They are both developing beautifully for their age and have excellent coat quality, texture and length for their relative ages. Exceptionally promising kittens who will go far. Prince Tyrone was in fact BIS Overall. Well done.

3rd Place – Raffkin Prefix
Represented By:- Raffkin Big Sur Alfie (kitten) & Raffkin Talahasse Talulah (kitten)
These two really had the cute factor, only just old enough to enter the show today, but they really held their own. Littermates with exceptional consistency of type. Excellent NFC look with super head type and body and boning developing. Coats still very kittenish but time for them to develop. Very promising kittens who will be ones to watch. Well done.

Tabby pattern developing nicely with good butterflies and oysters apparent. Quite short tail, but well furnished. Lovely temperament.
2 EVANS LYNXELOT OSMUND (64 44f)(26.8.09) Attractive Maine Coon kitten of nice type. Although he is listed as a Cream Mackerel tabby I do wonder if he is actually a cream solid as his eye makeup and chin although pale are not distinctive enough. He does have clear tabby stripes but these could just be ghost markings. Reasonable breadth to head, slightly longer head, lacking a little in definition to his cheekbones but with a nice square muzzle. Very strong chin and lovely perpendicular nasal line. Shallow concave curve to profile with a little bump. Full and round eyes, very nicely set and shaped obliquely. Large, tall ears, nicely tapered with lovely ear tufts and very well set. Very long body and very substantial body weight and boning for his age. Substantial limbs and very large paws. Very soft and fluffy coat at present, still quite short and kittenish, needing to develop its waterproof top coat. Lovely gentle lad with a super temperament.

Good substance and with strong limbs and large paws. Striking jet black and white coat pattern in the fashion of Sylvester! Very well prepared and with a lovely glossy top coat and undercoat and length developing nicely. Very soft and silky. Long well furnished tail. Extremely promising kitten who I look forward to seeing again. Lovely confident temperament.
2 DAVIE COONFLAKES TEQUILA SUNRISE (64 41e) (7.10.09) Another lovely type Maine Coon kitten who was the baby of the kittens today at almost 4 months of age. Very well set, high on her head. Expressive eyes, full and round and set slightly obliquely. Lovely concave curve to profile. Strong chin and good perpendicular nasal line. CAPITAL LONG HAIR CAT ASSOCIATION SHOW
9th January 2010

I would like to thank Sally and the committee for inviting me today. Sally did a fantastic job running the show and getting everything sorted under very difficult weather and operating conditions. It was a shame that the number of absent exhibits was quite high but this in no way affected the overall quality and the BIS line up was superb. When the chips were down all of the exhibitors, workers and judges worked really well together to complete a great show. Thank you to Doreen for stepping in at the last minute to steward for me when my planned steward was snowed in, it was her first time and she did a great job. Many thanks. In order to get through everything in time I have only written up my open classes below but I have made a few personal comments below, I hope the exhibiters won’t be too disappointed.
