MAIDSTONE & MEDWAY CAT CLUB SHOW
18th December 2010

I would like to thank Anne, Brian and the committee for a lovely show under very difficult circumstances. It was a shame that many exhibits were absent, but the quality of cats was still very high. Thank you so much to Candice Prowting for coming to steward for me, you did a fabulous job and it was much appreciated. I hope that the exhibitors managed to get home safely, we did eventually but it was a marathon journey due to closed roads and jack-knifed lorries finally taking us 12 hours, but it was still worth it !! It was certainly a show to remember.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN KITTEN – MALE
1 & BOB & BRIGLIADORI SHWECHINTHE KRUMPET (13c1) (24.7.10) Handsome young lad of real substance. Mask is not yet complete giving him a “button nose” but when you stand back and take in his whole head he has good overall breadth and a nicely rounded muzzle, the points definition will come in time, it’s unusual to see this on a seal but I think it probably comes from his chocolate parentage:) Strong skull and lovely breadth to his head. Super dip to profile. Reasonable strength to his chin and level bite. Lovely almost round eyes, beautifully set and of a good even blue. Ears just a little tall at present. Good long body with super substance and boning for his age. Good body weight. Tail just a fraction short. Very pale and soft coat, silky and very well prepared. Very good feet markings. Good even gloves with nice socks and good medium length gauntlets, nicely matched. Lovely temperament, very promising kitten.

Ears just a little tall at present. Firm chin and level bite. Long body with strong boning and good substance for her age. Strong limbs and paws. Very soft and silky coat with just very slight shading to her shoulders and back, but pale at the roots and very well prepared. Very good feet markings. Good gloves, right just slightly generous but neither extending at the back. Very good, even and matched gauntlets, full and well tapered. Long bushy tail. Lovely temperament, another lovely Birman kitten.

Lovely kitten, who will go far.
2 RAWSONS RAGSHAVEN THE LONERANGER (66 31a) (2.6.10) Nice Ragdoll kitten who is at a difficult stage of his development at present and is slightly unbalanced. Head and muzzle needs to broaden slightly, but nice full cheeks. Good gentle dip to profile. Firm chin and level bite. Good inverted V. Eye colour more light blue in colouring but well opened and set eyes. Ears a little unbalanced at present with the rest of his head but nicely tilted forwards. His ears had white shading to the edges of both ears, I am not sure if this was developmental and if he will grow out of it. Slash of white to his back and I thumbprint of colour on his back hock. Excellent long body with super boning and substance, excellent body weight and strength for his age. Strong limbs and paws. Soft and silky coat with good length developed already. GCCF SUPREME SHOW
20th November 2010

I would like to thank the Supreme Committee for my invitation to judge again this year. The Supreme is one of my favourite shows and it is a real honour to judge at such a prestigious show. I really enjoy the format and the opportunity to interact with the exhibitors during judging. I had a wonderful team to support me again this year, all dear friends and super stewards, who did a stalwart job and calmed me down when I thought we weren’t going to get finished on time!! Thank you to Andrea Dean (my very well organised Senior Steward) and Elizabeth Shepherd who is becoming an old hand at this now, lastly but not least Julie Macpherson, who although an experienced breeder hadn’t stewarded before, she is a natural. Well done to you all. The cats were the real stars, they were so well behaved, just a couple of grumblers and the majority really enjoyed their day and handled like a dream. I was sorry to lose the NFC kittens, but would like to thank all the exhibitors for giving me such an excellent entry. The quality of the exhibits was superb but I was thrilled to give my NFC Neuter BOB to a young lad who is just 10 months old, how exciting to have such quality coming through. At the other end of the scale I was also thrilled to give my female UK Grand to a lovely mature female of 5 years of age who gained the title on the day and is another lovely example of the breed.

I would like to thank Lynda, Elaine and the committee for inviting me today. The Yorkshire show is always so well organised that everything runs smoothly. AV SLH IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE
IMPGR PC BUNCES IGR PR COONTASTIC THE MINSTREL (64 31t) (27.10.05) Very impressive Maine Coon lad shown in beautiful condition. He is a mature lad of five years and it really shows. Medium length head, slightly longer in dimensions than broad. Good breadth to his head with strong high cheekbones and a good square muzzle. Full and round eyes a little deep set but beautifully open and set and shaped slightly obliquely. Lovely concave curve to profile. Slightly messy bite and chin recedes a little but with good width to balance muzzle and a good perpendicular nasal line. Large, tall ears, slightly flared in positioning but very well furnished and set high on his head. Excellent length to body with super boning but a little lean for his frame. Soft and silky double coat with a full ruff and shirtfront, very well prepared and with a good warm brown tabby & white coat pattern. Good classic markings, nice butterflies and oysters. Long tail to balance with body, very well furnished. Lovely gentle fellow with a super friendly disposition.
RES IMP GR PC BURGESS GR CH & GR PR COONARIA SHAMWARI (64 41) (28.04.07) Another impressive Maine Coon lad who is a little younger at 3 ½. Medium length head, slightly broader than long. Good breadth to his head with nice high cheekbones and a super strong square muzzle. Shallow concave curve to profile. Full and round eyes, very nicely set slightly obliquely. Very good depth to chin, level bite and strong perpendicular nasal line. Large, tall ears, quite wide set and a little flared in positioning with lovely ear tufts, he did actually hold his ears up for us today which was really good!. Very long and substantial body, very good boning but slightly overweight for his frame. Substantial limbs and large paws. Long very well furnished tail. He has an excellent classic coat pattern, warm in colouring and with an exceptionally well defined classic tabby pattern. Very clear butterfly and oyster markings. Soft and silky double coat with excellent ruff and coat length, very well prepared and shown. Lovely texture to his coat. Lovely lad with a super temperament.
FEMALE
IMP GR PC BUTLERS JINGLEBELLES LADYOFATHENA (64 41w) (15.5.08) Beautiful Maine Coon female who has really come into her own now. She has blossomed into a beautifully balanced and harmonious female. Slightly moderate head, just slightly longer than broad. Lovely breadth to head and strength to her cheekbones. Super strong and square muzzle. Lovely balanced head type. Lovely deep chin with a level bite and a good strong perpendicular nasal line. Super concave curve to profile I would prefer slightly more lateral definition to her profile. Full and round eyes, very expressive and shaped and set just slightly obliquely. Large, tall ears with excellent ear tufts and super ear furnishings. Long rectangular body with excellent strength and substance, just a fraction plump! Substantial legs and strong paws. Excellent coat quality & texture. Soft, silky and very well prepared with an apparent double coat. Super full coat and ruff with a complete shirtfront and ruff & breeches. Long flowing coat of good length. Long well furnished tail to balance with body. Lovely warm brown classic tabby & minimum white coat pattern, with good definition with all whites sparkling. Beautiful girl, very well shown with a lovely friendly temperament.
RES IMP GR PC MLYNEK & HAYWARDS UK IGRCH & IGR PR MLYWARD SASSAFRAS (13c7) (24.6.99) A fabulous veteran Birman of quality who really ran my winner very close. Beautifully presented and in superb condition for her age. Strong skull with wonderful breadth to her head, full cheeks and super rounded muzzle. Slight bump to profile. BLUE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN FEMALE
1 & BOB HOUGHS LAVALNA SPARKLING BROOK (13c2) (23.04.10) Beautiful Birman kitten with excellent type and a lovely expression. Strong skull with very good breadth to her head, lovely full cheeks and super rounded muzzle developing well, very well balanced for her young age. Good slight dip to profile. Slightly tall ears at present. Very good blue eye colouring just slightly paler at the rims at present. Lovely almost round eyes with a super setting. Soft and pale coat developing well for her age. Medium bushy tail. Very good strength to body and super boning. Good body weight for her age. Soft blue grey points markings, still slightly pale in places. Scalloped gloves, good even socks and good medium length gauntlets. Almost matched and nicely full in shape, well tapered.
2 SAUNDERSONS BAYGAZER WATCHOUT LEKZIE (13c2) (21.4.10) Sweet Birman kitten who is at a difficult stage of her development at present and unlucky to meet the winner today. Good breadth to head nicely full cheeks and rounded muzzle. Slight dip and bump to profile. Ears a little tall at present. Chin slightly receding but level bite. Almost round eyes of a good blue, nicely set. Super length to body with excellent substance & body weight. Super boning, strong limbs and paws. Good even gloves and socks. Slightly uneven gauntlets, long slightly longer than the other and not quite even and quite thin in shape. Soft blue grey points markings that have not yet fully developed, especially on her mask. Soft and silky coat with length still to develop but well prepared. Lovely sweet female.
3 JOHNSONS MITTENMIST PENELOPE (13c2) (09.05.10) I was very concerned about the overall size and boning for this kitten, I felt that she was really too small for her age and breed. Strong skull, quite short, very domed and rounded head. Nice dip to profile. Very round and full eyes, which were proportionately too large for her face, very bold and set wide apart. Good deep blue. Good all round feet markings. Strong little body with good weight for her petite frame. Short tail and pale coat, soft and kittenish with length still to develop. Very sweet kitten with a lovely temperament.

AC SILVER SOMALI KITTEN MALE – two lovely kittens that it was hard to choose between, both very well shown and with lovely friendly personalities.
1 BULLIVANTS BARANCHRI KNOCK ONWOOD (63bs) (18.6.10) Lovely lad, still a baby but developing nicely. Very attractive chocolate silver colouring. Moderate head, soft and gentle curving developing to muzzle with well defined shallow indentations already apparent. Muzzle needs slightly more width to fully balance with the head length at present. Slight break to profile. Excellent ears, very well set with lovely cupping and very well furnished. Well developed eye markings, lovely almond eyes, Slight tarnishing to his chest and front paws and inside of his legs, both front and back. Very soft and silvery undercoat apparent. Chocolate tip to his nicely balanced and tapering tail. Excellent coat quality and texture, soft and fine and with a lovely feel to it. Length developing nicely. Ticking still quite immature but apparent and starting to develop but only really apparent on his head, shoulders and tail at present but the beginning coming on his flanks.
FEMALE
1 & BOB BULLIVANTS BARACHRI IOLANTHE (63as) (20.4.10) Another lovely young Somali kitten a little older than the boy and with a slightly more balanced head. Moderate wedge to head with lovely generous curves developing nicely. Super shallow indentations to her muzzle. Very slight break in profile. Firm chin and bite just slightly overshot. Lovely ears, very nicely set but she holds them a little flared at present, but very well furnished. Lovely soft sorrel silver colouring, slight tarnishing to her front legs and paws but overall a silvery peach colouring with a very pale undercoat. Lovely almond eyes set obliquely with very well defined eye makeup. Strong body with very good body weight and substance for her age. Strong limbs and paws. One broken necklace and excellent ticking for her young age very well developed over most of her body. Excellent soft and fine coat quality with nice length developing, top coat well developed. Long tail to balance with body, nicely tapered and furnished. Lovely sweet temperament.

SILVER TABBY SERIES MAINE COON KITTEN FEMALE
1 & BOB CHADWICKS MOONENCIA SHISHI GASHIRA (64 41dsw) (26.4.10) Lovely Maine Coon kitten with a super expression and a lovely coat quality and texture. Good well boned female. Strong and long body with substantial boning and strong paws. Broad moderate head, just slightly longer than broad. Cheekbones still to full develop, but with a lovely strong and square muzzle. Large, tall ears, which are still set very high on her head but will balance out over time I am sure. Slight bump to curve to her profile. Full and round eyes, very well set and shaped nicely obliquely, and a lovely deep amber colour to compliment her red silver tabby & white coat pattern. Very pale and good evidence of silver, tabby pattern quite diffused at present but developing nicely. Long and substantial body, with strong limbs and large paws. Very good body weight and boning for her age. Lovely kitten that has real personality and will I am sure go far.
2 KILMARTINS NITERAP BILLIE BLUES (64 41asw) (18.6.10) Although she is registered as a blue silver tabby & white I think she is more probably a blue smoke & white. Lovely expressive eyes, she does have the look of her mother! A month younger than my class winner and therefore that bit behind in terms of development. Quite moderate head length but still just slightly longer than broad. Good overall breadth to head with cheekbones still developing and a good square muzzle. The white inverted v to her face does cause her to look less well defined but when you feel the boning she has a good strong muzzle. Large and full, rounded eyes, very nicely open and well set slightly obliquely in her head. Very large ears, tall and well tapered and very well set high on her head with a lovely open setting, Very well furnished. Good long body with reasonable body weight and substance for her age. Strong limbs and paws. Long well furnished tail. Classic tabby and white coat pattern, with some staining to her hocks and with a very diffused pattern at present, with classic pattern just becoming discernable. Sweet female of lovely temperament.

NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT NEUTER MALE
1st PC withheld. COWARDS PR NORDLYS LIAM TOINENTOR (67 18) (29.02.08) I was very sorry to withhold the PC on this lad but for me although he is a large lad and was beautifully presented, his head type is lacking the refinement that the breed requires. He does have a very long triangular head but with a completely uniform nose bridge which is very broad and dominates his head type. He also has a definite dip to his nasal profile line. Chin is lacking strength but he has a good level bite. Largish ears, set very wide on his head and flared in positioning. Eyes not quite balancing with the strength of his head. Excellent coat quality and texture and beautifully presented. Lovely coarse guard hairs and glossy top coat. Very good full ruff and knickerbockers to complete the look. Very well prepared and shown. Very long body and very substantial boning and substance. Strong limbs and large paws. Typical NFC stance. Lovely gentle lad with a super temperament.
FEMALE
BOB HIGHAMS CH & PR VESLEMOY COCOA CHOLE (67 36e) (25.8.08) Beautiful Norwegian female who is everything I wanted to see. She was beautifully presented and has real elegance of type. Excellent triangular head with a straight profile and a very definite chin. Level bite. Lovely oval eyes, well opened and very well set slightly obliquely. Excellent large ears, very well furnished and set high and open on her head. Lovely flowing double coat. Very well prepared and of a super condition and texture. Typically waterproof top coat and super glossy guard hairs apparent. Attractive black tortie smoke coat pattern, very well mingled, even thought this is irrelevant. Long body with very good body weight and substance. Strong limbs and large paws. Very well shown and with a super temperament, handled very well. Beautiful female who I look forward to seeing again sometime.

AC SLH DEBUTANTE ADULT
1 POOLS DALTEEMA CHAROITE (13c4) (17.01.10) Handsome Birman lad of very good Birman type, unfortunately he has white past the stopper pad on his front foot. Beautifully shown and with a lovely temperament. Such a shame about the foot fault.
2 RUST & SPENCES LIONMAINE MUSTANG SALLY (64 41sw) (28.10.08) Young female who still needs time to develop. Head is somewhat un-balanced at present, still quite narrow and with quite flared ears. AC SILVER SOMALI KITTEN
1ST BOB Withheld. HERBST SONARGAON BLUE SHADOW (63cts) (21.04.10) Very sweet Somali kitten with very unusual blue silver tortie colouring. I was very sorry to withhold the BOB today but unfortunately I felt that her head type was too extreme for the standard and that her profile was almost straight with no break, additionally her colouring calls for her to have the intermingling of the two tortie colours and that a solid foot is not allowed. I was not convinced that the both colours were present on all feet. I felt that the creamish colouring on her legs, particularly her front legs was tarnishing rather than a true expression of the cream, it lacked the warmth of the cream colouring present on other parts of her body. Head a little narrow and long at present lacking the required gentle contours. Lovely large ears, beautifully cupped and demonstrating that lovely crescent setting. Firm chin and level bite. Good almond shaped eyes nicely set obliquely and with good eye markings developing. Coat colouring, pale silver with blue and rich cream obviously intermingling on her back. Well developed ticking. Quite a lot of tarnishing to her all legs and around the bib area. Soft and very fine coat, a little too silky smooth for perfection and with length still to develop. Complete blue paws and heels. Very robust body with good boning for her age and a long tapering tail to balance her body. Very sweet kitten with a lovely disposition.

TABBY OR TORTIE TABBY BIRMAN NEUTER FEMALE
1 PC & BOB BALDWINS HUGNHOLD GOLDEN JUBILEE (13c16) (11.04.02) I have written in my book “Fabulous girl” and she really is, what an attractive intermingling of the points colouring and with lovely type really shining through. Mature girl of 8 year of age. Lovely breadth to head with a super fullness to her cheeks and muzzle. Medium ears spaced wide apart. Very expressive eyes, almost round and of a good medium blue, very nicely set. Full coat with a soft and silky texture, very well prepared and with a full ruff and shirtfront to frame her face. Uneven shading to her shoulder and back but pale at the roots, Medium bushy tail. Long body with excellent body weight and substance. Thick set limbs and strong paws. Slightly low gloves, with good medium length gauntlets, almost matched and even. Lovely gentle temperament, really looked the part a worthy BOB winner.
2 WOODMANS ADNIOLO AIRIEFAERIE (13c11) (11.04.02) Young Birman female of just over a year in age. Good Birman type. Strong skull with nice breadth to her head, reasonably full cheeks and muzzle, a little more time needed for development. Slightly pale eye colouring, quite silvery at the rims, but almost round and nicely set. Medium ears set wide apart. Slightly weak chin and level bite. Slight dip to profile with a little bump. Medium length body and frame but very good bodyweight and boning for her frame. Very cold seal tabby points, with well defined tabby markings to her head and front legs. Slightly generous gloves, going to the stopper pad at the back but not beyond. Good medium length gauntlets, quite full in shape. Slightly harsh coat quality at present, a little seasonal and shaded. Medium ruff and coat length. Sweet temperament.

High cheekbones and strong square muzzle. Good chin depth but muzzle would benefit from more width to the chin. Level bite and good perpendicular nasal line. Uniform nose bridge and shallow curve to profile. Large, tall ears, nicely tapered and very well furnished, with good tufts but set just a little flared on his head. Full and round eyes, lovely deep golden colouring and set and shaped slightly obliquely. Excellent full coat and ruff with good evidence of his classic tabby patterning. High white, with sparkling white parts, very well prepared. Soft and silky coat of very good texture. Very long body with substance limbs and large paws. Still a little overweight but much better proportioned than he was. Lovely gentle fellow with a super temperament.
FEMALE

Moderate head with excellent breadth and definition to her head. High cheekbones and an excellent square muzzle. Very full and round eyes, especially as she was so cross! set wide apart and slightly obliquely. Large tall ears, which are a fraction wide set, but very well furnished and with good ear tufts. BUCKS, OXON & BERKS CAT SOCIETY SHOW
18th September 2010

I would like to thank Barbara and the committee for inviting me today. What a super entry and such quality too. It was a super day with an excellent quality of exhibits. Thank you to Fiona Hermon who stood in for me at the last minute and did an excellent job, especially for her first GCCF stewarding engagement. I am so glad that you have now decided to join the scheme, you will be an excellent steward and I shall look forward to our next time. I was very pleased to be asked to choose the SLH Best Adult, Kitten & Neuter and then the overall Best SLH. The selection was very tough as the quality on the day was excellent and I really had to split hairs to choose between them. On the day my Best Adult was a beautiful NFC female of exceptional quality who really took my breath away, she is very well developed with beautiful balanced type for her relatively young age, and she was CH ZELANDONII ARWEN. My best neuter was a very close decsion between the beautiful Ragdoll BLEUGEMS BELIEVE-IN-ME and my final choice a stunning Maine Coon lad PR ISADORYOU FIRE AND ICE, whose show preparation was truly exceptional. However my best kitten and overall SLH BIS was an exceptional Maine Coon kitten ISADORYOU LIGHTNING BUG, she is a real star and boy does she know it!! She went on to be Overall Best Exhibit in Show, many congratulations to her owner/breeder.

AOV SLH CHAMPION GR CH MALE

Good chin and bite fractionally overshot. Large and well opened eyes, set slightly oblique and with a lovely expression. Excellent deep blue to his eyes. Coat very short and seasonal at present, quite course & harsh in texture along his spine line, but softer to the flanks and sides. Although lacking in coat length and ruff he is very well prepared with all white parts sparkling white. Two thumbprints along his back. Very strong body with very good body length and excellent boning and substance. Very strong limbs and large round paws. White from his mask right underneath and all front legs white. Uneven white to the back legs, but both to the under body or slightly higher. Tail a little short and quite sparse at present. Super gentle temperament a real gentleman.

IMP GR PR WHITTLES GR PR TIGANLEA LORD FERDINAND (67 31ts) (09.06.05) Silver tabby & white coat pattern. Massive lad with a huge coat and real substance Just reaching maturity at 5 years of age and it really shows. Excellent NFC type. Strong, clean triangle with an almost straight profile. Lovely alert expression with very expressive eyes, large, oval, well opened and well set obliquely but just a fraction deep set. Almost parallel nose bridge and a little lacking in lateral definition to the front portion of his nasal profile. Firm chin and level bite. Large ears, nicely tapered and well set high on his head. With super ear furnishings. Very long body, very substantial boning and good body weight. Typical NFC stance with strong limbs and large paws. Excellent full coat and full with full knickerbockers and excellent glossy guard hairs. Super harshness to texture. Excellent double quality to his coat with fully waterproof top coat. RES IGR PR BALFOURS GR PR NORSHELIAN AXEL SKAUKONGEN (67 31s) (04.03.05) Large NFC lad of substance with good NFC type. Quite long triangular head, with a strong chin and good almost straight profile line. I would like to see slightly more refinement to his head type for perfection. Large ears, well opened and very well set, high on his head, with super furnishings. Lovely large oval eyes, very well set obliquely. Black smoke and white coat colour and pattern, coat quality a little soft at present, I suspect he has been recently bathed for the show and his coat has not yet recovered. Wearing his summer coat at the moment and lacking a full ruff and shirtfront. Long body with good boning and substance. Strong limbs and paws. Long well furnished tail. Very sweet lad who handled very well.

AC NORWEGIAN CHAMPION MALE

RES GR CC HANDYS CH NORMYSTIC LORD BURR (67 20) (02.05.09) Brown tabby. Attractive and substantial NFC lad of good type. Beautiful eyes, large, oval and set very well, obliquely. Good chin and level bite. Large ears with good furnishings, he is tending to hold them slightly bonneted and flared in placement. 2 TUCKERS ROWGARNOR BUFFALO BILL (67 31ts) (10.03.10) Brown tabby & white coat pattern. Good NFC type. Strong kitten with a clearly equilateral triangle and a very balanced head for his age. 3 DOUGLAS VIEUXTEMPS VALHALLA (67 31t) (23.02.10) Brown tabby & white coat pattern. Really lovely kitten of superb type, unfortunately he has a tail fault which was confirmed by the duty vet, if it hadn’t been for this fault he would have been my winner today. Such a disappointment for his owner. Excellent triangular head shape a with a very long triangle, just slightly pinched at present but developing beautifully. Straight profile. Firm chin and level bite. Typical NFC expression and look with large oval eyes with a lovely slightly oblique setting. Large ears, nicely tapered and set very well high on his head with lovely furnishings. Long body with very good boning and substance. Good body weight for his age and very ell grown. Coat texture very soft at present but with long and glossy guard hairs really evident and the undercoat coming through. Well prepared. Good length developed for his age. Long tail, such a shame about the fault, otherwise he is an extremely promising young lad with a super gentle temperament.
FEMALE ( I was very pleased to see these female kittens had such good size and substance for their age)
BOB & 1 HUGHES NORMAGIKATT RAPHEALA (67 31fts) (28.03.10) Cream Tabby & White coat pattern. Very striking young female kitten with a super NFC look and very substantial boning for her age. 2 HANDYS FORESTSHADOW FRIKKA (67 31ts) (21.03.10) Silver tabby & white coat pattern. Very expressive eyes with a typical NFC look, large oval eyes, well opened and set slightly obliquely. Large very well set ears, well tapered and well furnished. Lovely open setting. 3 TUCKERS NOYNAROCK MORGAN LE FEY (67 31ats) (05.02.10) Blue silver tabby & white coat pattern. Another lovely kitten with a super triangular head, unfortunately today she was very cross and did not show herself off to advantage. Very good clean triangular head, nicely rounded forehead. Almost straight profile. Quite firm chin and level bite. Large ears, a little rounded in shape but very well set high on her head. Large eyes, which looked a little bold today but this was probably as she was a little cross with us!! Very well developed for her age with a strong and long body of very good substance. Strong limbs and paws. Coat a little soft and kittenish at present but with good glossy guard hairs apparent and nice length developing. Sweet kitten I hope that she adjusts to being shown.

BOB withheld - 1st HOPKINS – CHEVYCOONS BLAZE (64 41es) (132.3.10) Attractive Maine Coon kitten of 3 ½ months of age and nice Maine Coon type. I was sorry to withhold the BOB today but I felt that her show preparation was just not acceptable for this award. I was pleased to speak to her new owners later, who are new to showing and I hope that the suggestions that I made will be useful in preparing her for her next show. Currently at a difficult stage of her development, quite a long and narrow head and still needing time to develop the requisite breadth to her cheekbones. Reasonably square muzzle, would benefit with more strength to her chin. Level bite and good perpendicular line. Full and round eyes, nicely set, slightly obliquely. Very large, tall ears, well set high on her head and well furnished. Long body with good body weight and substance for her age. Strong limbs and paws. Very soft and fine tortie silver coat. A difficult colour to prepare as it is so fine. Lovely temperament.

SOMALI CAT CLUB SHOW
20th March 2010

I would like to thank Shealagh, Kit and the committee for inviting me today. It is always a pleasure to see so many beautiful Somali’s in one place and the quality today was exceptional. Thank you to Kassandra Warwick for coming today to steward especially for me. It was a busy day but we got through it all in the end.

AC TABBY CAT OF ANY PATTERN (ECEPT GINGER OR TORTIE) WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE.
1MC HUTCHISON’S Mc LEON (SH TABBY) (1 year and 10 months) Large Brown tabby lad of substantial proportions. Sweet lad with a coolish shorthair brown tabby coat pattern. Soft and silky coat, well prepared. Long body with strong limbs and round paws. Head slightly small in comparison to his body, round in shape and with green eyes and a sweet expression. Lovely temperament.

AC SOMALI BREEDERS KITTEN
1 FRANCIS NAINASUS SPITFIRE (63a) (9.11.09) A young Somali baby, only just old enough to be here today at just 4 months of age. Wedge to head is still a little long and narrow at present. Cheeks need more breath and fullness, but he has a fractionally stronger head than his litter brother, placed second in this class today. Slightly straight profile with more of a bump than a break to his profile. Firm chin and slightly overshot bite. Expressive almond shaped eyes, large and set obliquely and well apart. Good eye make –up. Very good ears, large and very well set, nicely cupped with excellent tufts and good breadth at the base. Good strong body, very well boned and with good body weight. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail. Soft and very fine Sorrel coat with good warmth to his apricot undercoat, with length yet to develop. Good evidence of ticking across his coat, especially at the shoulders and neck but developing well. Good full heels and paws. Lovely temperament.
2 FRANCIS NAINASUS HURRICAINE (63c) (9.11.09) Sweet young Somali kitten just 4 months of age and a little overawed by the whole experience but with a sweet disposition. Wedge shaped head which is a little fine and narrow at present. Quite a long head which needs to develop more fullness to his cheeks to create the necessary curving Somali smile. Reasonable definition to his muzzle but overall too long at present. Slightly straight profile with more of a bump than a break to his profile. Reasonably firm chin with a level bite. Large eyes which looked quite round and bold at first but did improve as he relaxed. Lovely well defined eye make –up and oblique setting. Large ears with an excellent setting, very well cupped with excellent tufts and nicely broad at the base. Strong and firm body, very well boned and with super weight for his frame and age. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail. Lovely soft blue coat, currently more tipped than ticked. Some ticking evident on his shoulders and neck but still developing elsewhere. Nice warmth to his undercoat. Coat length yet to develop and texture very soft and fine. Good full heels and paws. Broken necklace. Sweet but shy lad.

1 JAMES BRIZLINCOAT CASSANDRA (63a) (5.9.09) Attractive young Somali kitten of 6 months of age and with very good Somali type. Good large ears very well set and cupped with good breadth at the base and super ear furnishings. Super strong lithe body, nicely boned and with good body weight for her age. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail. Lovely coat quality, soft and nicely fine but dense and with good length developing. SEMI – LONG HAIR CAT ASSOCIATION SHOW
20th March 2010

I would like to thank Di, Mandy and the committee for inviting me today. It was a very busy day with lots of very beautiful Semi-long hairs, we had a lovely selection of cats, thanks you to the exhibitors for bringing them. Unfortunately the lighting in the hall was awful which made the assessment of eye colour and shape quite difficult as most exhibits had very large and dilated pupils!! Thank you to Kassandra Warwick for coming today to steward especially for me. It was a busy day but we got through it all in the end.

AOC SOMALI (EX SILVER) KITTEN - Male
1st FRANCIS NAINASUS HURRICANE (63c) (09.11.09) Sweet young Somali kitten just 4 months of age and a little overawed by the whole experience but with a sweet disposition.
Female – fantastic class of female kittens
1st & BOB POINTINGS BRIZLINCOAT BLU CHANTRELL (63c) (11.9.09) Stunning Somali kitten who stole my heart! I judged this kitten a few weeks ago and loved her then, if anything I think she is even more gorgeous now. How exciting to own such a quality female and in blue too. My first impression of her is how balanced and harmonious she is, particularly given that she is still only just 6 months old. She has excellent Somali type. Lovely moderate wedge to her head with truly gentle curving contours to her cheeks and muzzle. Her smile is undoubted. I particularly love the shallow indentations which give definition to her muzzle. Lovely profile with a slight break. Firm chin and level bite. Lovely almond shaped eyes, set slightly obliquely with a lovely mischievous expression. Very well defined eye make-up. Large ears with an excellent setting wide apart on her head. Well cupped and very broad at the base. Nicely furnished. Firm and lithe body of very good body weight and substance for her age. Long tapering tail, well furnished and in balance with her body. Lovely soft blue coat colouring with lovely warmth to her undercoat. Soft and fine coat with length still to develop. Excellent ticking, especially for her dilute colouring. Very well developed over her entire body. Full blue heels and paws. A kitten with a lovely temperament who is sure to go far. Congratulations on her Best in Show wins, very well done to her breeder and owners.
2nd WATTS EMANAN CHOCOLATE SENSATION (63b) (29.7.09) Another lovely Somali kitten of very good type. Lovely moderate wedge to head with super breadth. Muzzle just a fraction fine at present, but well defined shallow indentations to her muzzle, so she just needs a little more time for the full breadth to develop. Good depth to her chin, level bite. Lovely expressive eyes, large and almond in shape, set obliquely and well apart. Beautifully set large ears, broad at base and very well cupped with super tufts. Strong, firm body, very well developed in substance and body weight for her age. Long legs and tufted oval paws. Long tapering tail to balance with her body. Good dark chocolate coat colouring, with lovely pale apricot undercoat. Really super soft and fine coat and with the best developed length of all the kittens today. Ticking developing nicely, most evident on her shoulders and neck at present but developing nicely. Good full chocolate heels and paws. Sweet girl who was a little shy.
3rd COONEYS TAGHER CHAMPAGNE TRUFFLE (63b) (31.8.09) A third lovely Somali kitten with her smile almost in place and with excellent strength of ticking. Unfortunately she does have a fixed deviation at the end of her tail which was confirmed by the duty vet today. Moderate wedge to her head with good breadth and nice curves starting to develop her smile. Slight break to profile. Firm chin and level bite. Large almond shaped eyes, set obliquely with a very sweet expression. Lovely large ears with a super setting once settled, when she is out of the pen she has a tendency to flare them. Well cupped and with good tufts. Firm and strong body with very good body weight and boning. Long legs and oval paws. Medium tail, well furnished and tapered. Very well developed ticking evident across her whole body for her age. Soft and very silky coat with length yet to develop, pale apricot undercoat with nice warmth. Full chocolate heels and paws. Sweet kitten who was just a little nervous today, such a shame about her tail.

NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT CLUB SHOW
20th February 2010

I would like to thank Anne, Brian and the committee for inviting me today. It was another great show with a tremendous record entry, well done to all the exhibitors for supporting the show. I had the honour of stewarding for Jette Eva Madsen which was a great pleasure.

Later in the day, I judged the Prefix pairs, what a task you gave me, 39 cats in 22 different pairs!! The quality of the cats was super, thank you for giving me such a challenge.

Prefix Pairs – only 1 ½ points separated these top three pairs and there were only 4 points between the top 6 pairs.

1st Place – Tiganlea Prefix
Represented by:- Ch Tiganlea Prince Dante (adult) & Tiganlea Dame Felicia (kitten) As I said on the day it really was cheating to put two blue cats under me as they are my favourite colour! However, taking that aside these two cats were both excellent examples of the breed. They were both of exceptional quality and substance. The male is mature and was in full coat and has a wonderful NFC expression. The young female kitten is also lovely and has one of the best quality dilute coats I have seen. In particular she had wonderful boning and substance for her age. Well done, they complimented each other beautifully.

2nd Place – Noynarock Prefix
Represented by:- Noynarock Prince Tyrone (kitten) & Noynarock Greta (kitten) These two were a truly striking pair, a silver tabby & white and a black smoke and white. Both have excellent type and super boning and substance. They are both developing beautifully for their age and have excellent coat quality, texture and length for their relative ages. Exceptionally promising kittens who will go far. Prince Tyrone was in fact BIS Overall. Well done.

3rd Place – Raffkin Prefix
Represented By:- Raffkin Big Sur Alfie (kitten) & Raffkin Talahasse Talulah (kitten)
These two really had the cute factor, only just old enough to enter the show today, but they really held their own. Littermates with exceptional consistency of type. Excellent NFC look with super head type and body and boning developing. Coats still very kittenish but time for them to develop. Very promising kittens who will be ones to watch. Well done.

2 EVANS LYNXELOT OSMUND (64 44f)(26.8.09) Attractive Maine Coon kitten of nice type. Although he is listed as a Cream Mackerel tabby I do wonder if he is actually a cream solid as his eye makeup and chin although pale are not distinctive enough. He does have clear tabby stripes but these could just be ghost markings. Reasonable breadth to head, slightly longer head, lacking a little in definition to his cheekbones but with a nice square muzzle. Very strong chin and lovely perpendicular nasal line. Shallow concave curve to profile with a little bump. Full and round eyes, very nicely set and shaped obliquely. Large, tall ears, nicely tapered with lovely ear tufts and very well set. Very long body and very substantial body weight and boning for his age. Substantial limbs and very large paws. Very well set, high on her head. Expressive eyes, full and round and set slightly obliquely. Lovely concave curve to profile. Strong chin and good perpendicular nasal line. CAPITAL LONG HAIR CAT ASSOCIATION SHOW
9th January 2010

I would like to thank Sally and the committee for inviting me today. Sally did a fantastic job running the show and getting everything sorted under very difficult weather and operating conditions. It was a shame that the number of absent exhibits was quite high but this in no way affected the overall quality and the BIS line up was superb. When the chips were down all of the exhibitors, workers and judges worked really well together to complete a great show. Thank you to Doreen for stepping in at the last minute to steward for me when my planned steward was snowed in, it was her first time and she did a great job. Many thanks. In order to get through everything in time I have only written up my open classes below but I have made a few personal comments below, I hope the exhibiters won’t be too disappointed.
